The Teaching of Writing in the Network Environment

Abstract

In terms of EFL in China, it has been continuously criticized for its inefficiency. Despite many years of effort, most English learners in China are not able to use the language in real communications. It is particularly true for College English Writing Learning. The only way to improve the learning outcomes for many English learners in China is to maximize the use of technology, especially network, in the traditional writing classroom. With the development of technology and the introduction of network-based language learning, the Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has changed enormously. CALL has developed from its simplest application form-multimedia to Internet. The Internet and the rise of computer-mediated communication in particular have reshaped the uses of computers for the teaching of writing. This paper reviews three main writing teaching methods in English teaching and learning principles underlying the net-based language teaching. Then the thesis discusses teaching principles of writing in the network environment which include positive and negative aspects of using the internet. And finally the thesis discusses the application of network resources in the teaching of writing.

摘  要
  
中國的外語教學1直以來受着低效率的困擾。中國的外語學習者在付出了多年的努力後,仍然難以在實際交流中自如地使用外語。這種情況在中國的大學外語寫作教學中表現得尤爲突出。而提高外語教學質量的1種有效途徑就是在教學的.過程中儘可能的應用現代科技,特別是利用網絡在傳統的寫作課堂中進行外語寫作教學。隨着技術發展和網絡外語教學的出現,計算機輔助外語教學己經由當初簡易的媒體形式發展成爲今大網絡多樣化形式。互聯網,尤其是計算機爲媒介的通訊方式的應用,使得計算機在外語寫作教學中的應用發生了巨大變化。本文回顧了3種基於網絡環境下的主要的寫作教學方法和原則。然後探討了包括利用網絡的利與弊方面的網絡環境下的寫作教學原則。論文最後討論了網絡資源的利用途徑。
