Error analysis and English teaching

Abstract

Error analysis is the study and analysis of the errors made by second language learners. It not only helps us on the process of learning second language, but also helps us gain some insights into the strategies learners employ in the learning process. A careful study of the errors is believed to be of great help to both language teachers and language learners. This thesis, with error analysis and interlanguage as its theoretical guidance, analyzes the compositions written by senior students. A classification of the errors is made first, followed by a discussion of the factors leading to the errors. The analysis shows that interlingual and intralingual errors are two major types, with the former playing a more prominent role than the latter. Following the analysis and discussion, relevant error correction methods and suggestions are put forward.

摘 要

錯誤分析是對第2語言學習者的錯誤進行的研究和分析。它不僅能幫助我們瞭解學習者對第2語言掌握的程度以及學習的策略,對促進教師的教學及學生的學習具有重要意義。該文以錯誤分析和中介語理論爲理論基礎,對所蒐集的.高中生的作文進行分析,首先將錯誤進行歸類,然後重點探究其產生的原因.結果表明,語內因素和語際因素是導致錯誤的兩個主要原因,而且語內錯誤較語際錯誤相對顯著.透過討論本文提出相應的更正方法,以及對英語教學的1些啓示。
