3、用於分隔置於句首或插在句中的狀語,狀語從句和其省略形式。
His response,when I questioned him,was a shake of his head.
After you learned the game,you get bored again.
Outside the window,the lawn was cluttered with broken beer bottles and cigarette ends.
3、用於分隔開非限制性定語從句。My grandmother,who smokes a lot,is ninety.
4、用於分隔插入語。
Some students,it appears,are more concerned about the test scores.

不使用逗號的情況：
1、句子的主語和謂語後沒有插入語和同位語等句子成分。
The retiring worker ,was applauded more than she expected.

2、並列連詞(and,but,for,or,yet)和從屬連詞(Although,because,when,since,and so on,so)後通常不能直接加逗號。
