我們在英語寫作中經常要用到狀語從句，對於一個初學寫作的人來說，學會簡化狀語從句，會使整篇文章顯得條理很清楚，下面將具體講一下各種狀語從句的簡化方法。

1．以after和before引導的狀語從句的.主語若與主句主語一致時，可用after和before與從句謂語動詞的動名詞(短語)形式構成介詞短語作狀語。

例如：

After she sang，she left the rich man's house．(簡化前)

After singing，she left the richman's house．(簡化後)

2．以as soon as引導的狀語從句的主語若與主句主語一致時，可用on十v-ing形式簡化狀語從句，此時的動詞爲非延續性動詞。例如：

Dr．Bethune began to operateon the wounded soldiers as soon as he arived at the village．(簡化前)

Dr．Bethune began to operateon the wounded soldiers on arriving at the village．(簡化後)

3．時間狀語從句和條件狀語從句的主語和主句主語一致時，有時可簡化爲不定式作狀語。例如：

She stopped when she saw her husband．(簡化前)

She stopped to see her husband．(簡化後)

If you want to understand the farmers，you must go to the countryside．(簡化前)

To understand the farmers，you must go to the country side．(簡化後)

4．結果狀語從句和目的狀語從句的主語與主句主語一致時，可以簡化爲不定式作狀語；若兩者主語不一致時，則應簡化爲不定式的複合結構作狀語。例如：

He was so tied that he couldn't go any further．(簡化前)

He was too tied to go any further．(簡化後)

I came here so that I could ask some questions．(簡化前)

I came here(in order) to ask some questions．(簡化後)

5．以when，while引導的時間狀語從句和以if引導的條件狀語從句，如果從句主語和主句主語一致時，可簡化爲現在分詞狀語，表示謂語動作發生在該狀語動作的進行過程之中。

例如：

When he turned on the radio，he found it broken．(簡化前)

When turning on the radio，he found it broken．(簡化後)

While she was walking along the street，she was hit by a car．(簡化前)

While walking along the street，she was hit by acar．(簡化後)

6．原因狀語從句的主語與主句主語一致時，可簡化爲分詞短語作狀語。例如：

Since l didn't know Chinese，I tried to speak to her in English．(簡化前)

Not knowing Chinese，I tried to speak to her in English．(簡化後)

要注意的是，形容詞短語也可用作表示原因的狀語，用以代替原因狀語從句，放在句首、句末均可，但一般應加逗號。例如：

As he was thirsty and eager to get a little rest，he went into the tea-house．(簡化前)

Thirsty and eager to get a little rest，he went into the tea-house．(簡化後)

7．在時間、原因、條件等狀語從句中，若從句和主句主語不一致時，可簡化爲分詞複合結構作狀語。有時也可簡化爲“with/without名詞或代詞十分詞(短語)”形式作狀語。例如：

When the film start appeared, the children got exited．(簡化前)

The film start appearing，the children got exited．(簡化後)

If all the work is done, you can have a rest．(簡化前)

With all the work done，you can have a rest．(簡化後)
