advanced calculation

here's an interesting mathematical equation that someone sent me the other day:

pick up a calculator and consecutively enter the numbers of your birthday.

add 754.

subtract 753.

add 1.

now, divide this number by yesterday's date and add 59 to the total.

subtract 59.

add the number of fingers on your right hand.

subtract the number of toes on your left foot.

divide this by any number between one and ten.

is the number you came up with your age? no? dang. oh well. it didn't work for me either but if it had it would have been pretty cool, wouldn't it?

revolution

five-years-old seems to be an age where a child will rebel against the word "no." i know my son knows what the word means

because, when told "no," he will respond by saying "no." i have no idea where he gets this trait. it must be something he has picked up from school.

i never had that problem when i was his age. i never went against my parents wishes. well, except for that one time when i locked myself to the dining room table and my brother had to come home to release me because my mom couldn't figure out how to work the

combination lock. oh yes, there was that time when i was told not to play around the house that was being built down the street but i crawled around in the attic, fell through the new sheetrock and my dad had to pay for it. and there was the incident when i painted my name with nail polish on the brick fireplace hearth after explicitly being told not to touch the fingernail polish. once, i was told not to play with matches and burned my thumb moments afterwards. then there was the time when i was told not to swim too far out into the ocean but i did anyway. my dad almost drowned while saving my life. so you see, i was a good kid. where does my kid get it from? corsage

my mother in-law once owned and operated a very successful

catering business. after retiring, she still organizes the occasional event for church and civic groups. her service is the kind of thing that is done so well that people don't even realize all that she has done. many times her efforts go without thanks.

she recently coordinated a major event at her church where close to three hundred people were slated to attend. it was a formal event

Good morning teachers and fellow students. Today we would like to introduce a few favorite books to you.

My favorite book is(Italian: Cuore). This is a diary written by an Italian boy Enrico. The diary is about his life and study. It included various touching stories that happened around Enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten "monthly" stories told by his teacher during the class. Every word in the chapter describes the word "love". From patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.

This novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. I really like this book very much. How about you? What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is. Have you read it before?

Oh, I haven’t read this book before. What is it about?

Well, it is a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. The story is happy ending.

Can you tell us why you love this book so much?

Sure. It is because the story taught us to be brave and to face the challenges and difficulties with courage. I am deeply impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story. I have decided to learn from her from now on.

Oh I see, the story sounds very good. I cannot wait to read this book as well. 初中英語演講稿中文:

這本書讓我懂得了怎樣去愛,讓我們在愛中受到教育。所以,我很喜歡這本書

初中英語演講稿:我的夢想(my dream)

Students, guests , teachers and Honorable Judges

Good morning !

My great pleasure to share my dream with you today. my dream is to become a teacher....

As the whole world has its boundaries, limits and freedom coexist in our life. I don’t expect complete freedom, which is impossible. I simply have a dream that supports my life.

I dream that one day, I could escape from the deep sea of thick schoolbooks and lead my own life. With my favorite fictions, I lie freely on the green grass, smelling the spring, listening to the wind singing, breathing the fresh and cool air and dissolve my soul in nature at last. Simple and short enjoyment can bring me great satisfaction.

I dream that one day the adults could throw their prejudice of comic and cartoon away. They could keep a lovely heart that can share sorrow and happiness with us while watching cartoon or doing personal things. That’s the real communication of heart to heart.

I have the belief that my dreams should come true. I am looking forward to some day coming when I am like a proud eagle, which flies to the blue and vast sky.

A Lesson from Nature

Ladies and gentlemen: Good morning! Today, the title of my speech is A Lesson from Nature.

Around us , there are plants, animals and many other things. We live in nature, so to keep the balance of nature is very important for us. But today, too many trees are still being cut down in many countries and flood all over the world are getting more and more serious, A lot of land has gone with them. This is a lesson from nature.

When people move into a new place, they often cut down trees or pull out many wild plants to make farmland. They don’t know that trees can stop flood and wind from washing or blowing the earth away, and that many of these wild plants are food for some wild animals. If the animals can’t find enough plants to eat, they will die or have to leave the place.

In one part of the United States, for example, the deer there like to eat a kind of wild flowers. The mountain tigers there eat the deer. But people killed many mountain tigers to protect the deer. soon there were so many deer that the ate up all the wild flowers. Then the deer began to eat the green leaves of the young trees the farmers thought of ways to protect their trees, then the deer had nothing to eat and many of them died.

The number of trees, deer, tigers, wild flowers and plants has changed much—less and less. We need to do more to keep the balance of nature.

Thank you

What life is about

“Good morning! Ladies and gentlemen”. Today, the title of my speech is “What life is about”

As we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, lots of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us. Life isn’t about keeping score. Life isn’t about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin. In fact it’s not about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about that.

But life is about whom you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. And we should always remember to be ourselves. Other might have things that we desire but being what we really are is the only trail leading to the true colors of life. Most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.

We’ve learnt how to make a living but not a life, we’ve added years to life, but not life to years. And it is time for us to choose whether to make a difference in our life.

And these choices are what life is about.

Thank you

Zhao Zhenhui From No.6 Middle School

hello, ladies and gentlemen. i’m angela zhang from class 4 grade 8. today, my topic is, “the shanghai world expo”.

first, i’ll say something about world expo history. as we know, the very first world expo, the great exhibition of 1851, took place in the crystal palace in london. uk. ever since then, the goals of world expos have been both high-minded as well as commercial. visitors are able to explore the world outside of their everyday experience—outside cultures, new scientific advancements, and new inventions. world expos have excited and inspired more and more people in the world.

on december3, XX, the bureau of international expositions (or call it bie) announced that shanghai will host expo2010. the bie had received bids from five cities to host expo2010. among the 5 nice cities, the bie chose shanghai at last! it’s really an exciting news for not only shanghainese, but also all of chinese people. here are some details about it.

look at this profile carefully. the title is “the 2010 world exposition ,shanghai, china ”. this is the logo.

and the theme is “better city., better life”, let’s guess who is the image representative? yeah, you’re right, yao ming!

shanghai expo is the first comprehensive world expo held in a developing country. and it is also the first one that takes “the city” as its theme, hoping that it can push forward the city

development and help bring about a better urban living environment, just like the theme: better city, better life.

i think, as a student in shanghai, we should learn to be a gentle person and keep good manners from now on. and try to practice english more in order to communicate with foreigners fluently in the near future. because, we’re a part of shanghai!
