大家好!

今天我國旗下的講話題目是“仰望星空與腳踏實地”。

20xx年xx月6日,我們十六位老師受學校委派前往xx,實地探訪傳說中的xx中學。這所神話般的學校,中外聞名。

在xx中學只有短短的一天時間考察學習,但是我受益匪淺。他們的教育教學理念,他們的校紀校風,以及20xx年神話般的119個清華北大錄取人數,都令我驚歎不已。在此我想與各位老師同學分享我的所見所感。

以前翻看xx中學的資料,感覺這裏的學生像囚犯似的。但是走進xx中學,沿途的長廊上整齊排列着往屆考入清華北大的優秀學子的'照片,十分震撼人心;教室裏每一張課桌的右上角,都貼着學生書寫的目標和座右銘,字裏行間無不洋溢着xx中學學生追求卓越的人生信念。經過親自參加學習,走近學生之後,我才真正認識到這個幾乎與世隔絕的地方並不是傳說中的“監獄”,而是以苦爲樂的精神特區。xx中學的學生和老師在高考誓師大會上的羣情激昂並不是形式口號,而是發自內心的誠摯吶喊和對目標義無反顧的執着追求。此刻才明白,心若是牢籠,處處爲牢籠,自由不在外面,而在於內心。如果心中閃耀着整片星空,身在何處又有何妨呢?

但是僅僅心有猛虎是不夠的,xx的學子更注重腳踏實地。每學期800篇英語閱讀篇章訓練,每節40分鐘的英語學科自習必須完成除聽力作文以外的其他所有內容,高三學生每天三十張試卷雷打不動。同學們,他們並沒有哆啦A夢的時光機器,有的只是爭分奪秒,與日月賽跑的決心;他們並沒有超人的頭腦,有的只是穩紮穩打落實每一個知識點的細心;他們並沒有奧特曼的金剛不壞之軀,有的只是日復一日,年復一年晨跑的恆心。如果這些還不夠,那麼令嚴謹認真的英國人都感到汗顏的xx中學手寫印刷體就是他們腳踏實地學風的又一個完美體現。正是仰望星空與腳踏實地的完美結合造就了xx中學的神話。

xx學生內心深處有一種神聖的責任感和榮譽感,有着新世紀中學生所特有的追求精神和危機意識。校服印着“追求卓越”的校訓。熱情澎湃,鬥志昂揚。xx高三年級主任在報告中說到:xx圍繞“激情+拼搏”,打造卓越的校園,打造卓越的課堂,打造卓越的學生。

同學們,細細想想,你們心中是否也有一片照亮前路的星空呢?哪怕它現在還遙不可及。請你們相信,如果你的努力配得上你的夢想,那麼你的夢想絕不會辜負你的努力。汗水的味道固然苦澀,但它澆灌出的花朵卻是芬芳的。不要害怕吃苦,要苦中作樂,以苦爲樂。因爲只有經歷地獄般的磨練,纔有征服天堂的力量;只有流過血的手指,才能彈出世間的絕唱。

Thank you very much!非常感謝!在接下來的時間裏,我將和大家一起分享一下學英語的苦辣酸甜。最主要的,是想透過我在北大六年教學經歷、美國六年生活經歷、“新東方”六年教學經歷,來和大家交流一下怎能樣儘快的提高大家的listeing and speaking comprehensions.

我的經歷具體是這樣的:我是1980年從內蒙古考到北大的,比大家高了好多屆。我在北大學英文,然後又在北大教書。教書六年之後,在1990年,我求學到美國。我發現到了,美國一下飛機,我一句話也聽不懂。當時我想,至少我學了幾年英文,所以打算繼續學英文。正在我在考慮到哪裏去的時候,我聽到一種說法,叫做everybody in American can speak English。那麼我又怎麼能夠在美國賺錢呢?所以,我必須改變這個想法。於是我該學了學計算機。計算機碩士畢業以後,我在美國的貝爾實驗室做了兩年的軟件工程師。在1995年,“新東方”的創始人俞敏洪來到了美國,在他的建議下,我有回國,開始參加“新東方”的創建。我和俞敏洪在北大是同班同學——“新東方”的五個“創業元老”裏有三個是北大的同學。除了我們兩個還有一個是“新東方”的圖書總策劃包凡一老師,他是“新東方”的寫作專家。我在大學時代是他們的班長,他們兩個當時是全班最落後的學生。我那時的主要精力和時間都花在每天晚上陪他們兩個在湖畔散步,勸

他們不要跳下去。我告訴他們說:“你們將來一定會成才的。”到了96年,我在新東方擔任副校長的時候,有一個大學生就問我說:“王老師,你上大學時四年都是他們的班長,你現在卻是他們的副校長,你的心理平衡怎麼找?”我說:“不用找,我現在心理是最平衡的。我當初當班長最大的夙願就是幫助這兩個後進青年成才。今天看到他們已經紛紛成才了,我的夙願已經了了。平衡徹底找到了。”——我們的確都要找到一個平衡的方法,只有心態平衡下來,你才能夠幹成偉大的事業。

在美國的時候我學計算機之前,還有一段小插曲。那就是我險些報考了哈佛的人力學系。我離開北大之後,吸引我的學校只有兩所,一所是英國的牛津大學,就是Oxford University;另一所呢就是Harvard University。那時候,哈佛大學人力學系的系主任,對我進行了面試之後覺得可以錄取我,並且提出可以給我提供五年的Scholarship。他說:“你只要答應我一個條件,”我說:“什麼條件?”——這個教授研究的是非常偏的一個科目,所以招生好多年都沒有找到一個合適的學生。他是在人力學系研究中國文化中苗族文化的。——他說:“只要你跟我學苗語,我就給你獎學金。”我說:“可以。”但是,我冷靜下來之後想:我拿了這些錢,在五年之內,過的是天上人間的日子。就算不能從哈佛大學畢業,也能夠肄業。將來至少能夠跟孫子誇口說,爺爺當年進過哈佛。但是這還不行,因爲我拿到這個學位,最終的目的是要找個飯碗。我就考慮,在北美這樣大片的土地上,有多少地方需要我這樣的人才呢?——苗族文化專家。透過“研究”,我發現,全北美只有一個地方需要,就是哈佛大學、人力學系、這位老師。所以,如果全北美只有一個機會,他的目標裏只有我一個人,那麼這個機會對我來說是百分之百的!但是,五年之後,我仍然處於一個非常劣勢的地位。我如果能在哈佛大學拿到學位,接下來的夢想就是當上哈佛大學的教授、終身教授。美國大學關於終身教授的規定:只要這個教授不去世,你就別想替代他。我想,萬一我六十歲就“夭折“了,那位教授八十多歲還健在,我也還是助教。想到這兒,我就對那位教授說:“I want to learn something different。”

當時是1990年,計算機在美國變得popular。而且招生的指標還有70個,我覺得這是個attract opportunity,於是決定學計算機。如果學計算機,我就可以成爲一個“計算機科學家”,就可以make money。但當時,我已經十年沒摸過數學了,計算機也從來沒有接觸過。我想,我能不能學計算機呢?我用亞里士多德的“三段論”來推導這個問題:計算機是人發明的東西,凡是人都應該懂人發明的東西。最後,如果我學不了計算機,我就不是人。得出這個結論之後,我就要做一些實際的調查,看一看計算機到底是什麼。我到了紐約最大的書店,看看計算機架上到底有些什麼書。其中有兩架書,

上面都有兩個共同的詞,這兩個詞深深地吸引了我,那就是programming languages。我看見的其實只有一個詞:languages。這個詞說明我與計算機是有關係的——我想,漢語是一種language,英文是我的first foreign language,法語是我的二外語,德語是第三外語。這個“編程語言”與我所會的這四門語言一定有共同的地方,所以才能一樣叫語言。於是,我就挑了一本書,看自己能不能讀懂,結果發現沒有一頁讀懂的。但是我發現了編程中很重要的一樣東西,是邏輯流程。我就靠這兩點——語言和邏輯,和紐約州立大學計算機系的系主任約會,說:“我是一個非常優秀的人才,你必須錄取我。”他看了我的成績單以後,說:“可是,你在北大學習的四年中,沒有一門課程與教學和計算機有關。”我說:“請等一下,我給你陳述一下你爲什麼必須要我——哈佛大學正在在考慮錄取我呢!另外,我有三點非常強的優勢。第一,計算機與其他機器相比最重要的特點是它能安裝軟件,那麼什麼是軟件呢?”他說:“programs 。”我又問:“那麼我們用什麼來寫這個programs呢?”他說:“language。”我說:“那你再看看我的成線單,最重要的一個詞是什麼?”老師說:“language。”我說:“我已經掌握了四門語言,再學一門方言是易如反掌。”教授說:“有道理。”然後我又說:“計算機能夠工作,它離不開人預設的邏輯。我在北大做了六年老師,做老師最大的特點就是訓練一個人的邏輯思維結構。我已經

完成了作爲一個計算機工作者最基本的訓練。第三點,我是搞English的,受到的是想象力的訓練。想象力,冠以科學術語就是抽象能力、能夠把複雜的東西變成簡單的問題的能力。這三點加起來,我足以和這些學計算機的本科學生抗衡了。”他說:“very interesting!你可以把你剛纔說的東西寫成論文來發表。”我說:“我今天來的目的不是要寫文章,是要求你錄取我。”他說:“好!”我就這樣被錄取了。當然,此後的學習過程是暗無天日的,但我還是堅持下來了。我用了半年時間補習了美國大學計算機本科四年的所有主幹課程,以全A的成績進入了碩士研究生的學習。然後用兩年讀完了碩士課程,在畢業的前夕又非常幸運地進入了美國最好的計算機公司——貝爾實驗室。,這時的我沉浸在一箇中產階級的生活裏,一個科學工作者成功的興奮裏。
