國際母語日
國際母語日(International Mother Language Day)，1999年11月，聯合國教科文組織的一般性大會宣佈：從2000年起，國際母語日設定在每年的2月21日，旨在促進語言和文化的'多樣性，以及多語種化。
歷屆主題
2000年的主題是：“首次國際母語日慶典(Inaugural celebration of International Mother Language Day)”;
2001年的主題是：“第二次年度慶典(Second annual celebration)”;
2002年的主題是：“語言多樣性：3000種瀕危語言(Linguistic Diversity: 3,000 Languages in Danger)”
2003年的主題是：“第四次年度慶典(Fourth annual celebration)”;
2004年的主題是：“兒童學習(Children learning)”;
2005年的主題是：“盲文和符號語言(Braille and Sign languages)”;
2006年的主題是：“語言與網絡空間(Languages and Cyberspace)”;
2007年的主題是：“多語言教育(Multilingual education)”;
2008年的主題是：“國際語言年(International Year of Languages)”;
2009年的主題是：“第十次年度慶典(Tenth annual celebration)”;
2010年的主題是：“國際文化友好年(International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures)”[6]
2011年的主題是：“利用資訊與傳播技術保護和促進語言與語言多樣性(Use of information and communication technology to protect and promote language and language diversity)”
2012年的主題是：“母語教學和全納教育(Mother-tongue teaching and inclusive education)”。
2013年的主題是：“書籍，母語教育的媒介”
